This message is special to me, Sarah, bc I am in the hospital, wondering if I will ever walk again without pain, ever heal. I have been far sicker though. When I was 18, I got tonsilitis, strep throat, s verdens, pneumonia and ecoli. I had 101 fever for three months. There was a point in my illness where I did not care if I lived or died, I just wanted the pain to go away. I remember making a decision: I wanted to live. From that day onward I began the arduous task of getting better. It took me 2 years to rebuilt my health. These experiences make a difference. I am very glad you made it, too. Otherwise my novels would suck. :)
Mark! We are all sending prayers and healing vibes your way. You are strong and you will make it through this. You've got too much life left to live and too many books left to write. And you don't need my advice for your novels - you are an amazingly talented writer all by yourself :)
