Remember that 80’s song, Let’s Here It for the Boy? Deniece Williams belted it out as she sang about her “less than beau” that “doesn’t dress fine” and “sings off key” but she loved him, anyway?
I always felt bad for that character in the song, whether fictional or not. I thought, why does she have to sing to praise him up? If she loves him, that’s all that matters. I mean, the man is “watching every dime” and making her laugh, so, sounds like he’s on the right track.
I thought about this the other day as I was thinking about how little we celebrate the little wins.
You know, we’re always hearing about the big stuff. The promotion, the new house, vacation, the marathon run, whatever IT is. Social media is full of it. I’m guilty of it. I mean, I did just publish a book, so I had to announce it!
But here’s the thing, seeing all the “Big Wins” all the time drowns out all the little stuff that made that big win happen. It diminishes the everyday battles we all fight in life.
It’s important to celebrate the little wins too, because those are the actions that truly empower us to reach our dreams and be our best selves.
So, here are my little win celebrations this week:
1. I got out of bed, despite battling the stomach flu.
2. I managed to get some sunshine (launching a book and a full-time job found me not getting outside nearly enough)
3. I took a deep breath.
4. I made my bed.
5. I took a nap.
How about you? What little wins are you celebrating?
Till Next Time,
Sarah
