Hey Readers!
Can you believe it? It’s time to set our clocks back again!
As we gain an extra hour this weekend, consider it a gift. While most of us may think, Perfect! An extra hour of sleep, what if you used this time to reflect on your goals instead?
I know what you’re thinking—Sarah, really? Isn’t that what New Year’s resolutions are for? But hear me out-this little pause can be a huge reset button to give you the head start you need before January.
Here are my top tips on how to “fall back” to “move forward.”
Relax. Surprised? Don’t be. Relaxation is extremely important to set your head (and body) straight. We are coming up to a very busy time of the year. Use this time to slow down and reset before the holiday whirlwind. Run a bubble bath, listen to your favorite music, or even take a nap. When you relax, you recharge, which is just as important as any goal.
Reassess. Look back at the year so far. What have you accomplished? What obstacles came your way? Celebrate your wins, both big and small. Take note of any unmet goals, but don’t stress about them. Just reassess. Ask yourself, is this goal still meaningful? If it is, think about ways you can still make it happen. If it’s not, let it go, guilt free. Goals evolve, just like us. It’s okay to let go of something that no longer serves you.
Refocus. Now that you’ve reflected, think about how you want to spend your last weeks of this year. The holidays might seem like they are around the corner, but we still have two full months to get a jump start our goals. Brainstorm how you can take small, intentional steps each day towards your dreams.
Pro Tip: People always ask me, “How do you juggle it all?” Here’s the secret: I just start. It’s easy to get trapped in overthinking, waiting for the “perfect” time. Guess what? There is no perfect moment. Your time is now. When you take small steps, momentum builds. Before you know it, taking action becomes second nature. You naturally give up things that don’t serve you for those that do.
Challenge: Between now and January 1st, try something that pushes you out of our comfort zone. It can be anything, even something small! Accept that you will feel awkward or even intimidated at first. Know that there will always be critics. Don’t let that stop you! Embrace discomfort - that’s where growth happens.
Wrap-Up: Don’t let your extra hour slip by! Use it to realign your mind, body and spirit. Empower yourself to act, even if it’s just for five minutes a day, working towards your goal. You’ll be amazed at what happens when we step outside our routines and comfort zones to empower ourselves. The momentum will build. Soon, you won’t be worried how to get it done, you’ll just be doing it.
So what are you waiting for?
XOXO,
Sarah
